Frequently Asked Questions
How many guests can you accommodate?
We offer flexible spaces suitable for both smaller family gatherings and larger wakes, with capacity for up to 100 guests depending on the package and room layout. We will be happy to help recommend the best option for your numbers.
What if I’m unsure how many people will attend?
We understand that exact numbers are often difficult to predict following a funeral. We simply ask for your best estimate when booking and final numbers 2 working days before the gathering. In most cases, a small variation in guest numbers (around 10%) can usually be accommodated, so please don’t worry if a few extra guests arrive on the day.
Where are you located?
Maple Park Café is located beside Maple Park Crematorium in Thirsk, making us a convenient and comfortable setting for family and friends to gather following a service.
Is parking available?
Yes — we have ample free on-site parking available for guests.
Can we have exclusive use of the space?
Yes — depending on your chosen package and guest numbers, exclusive use of the café, function room, or both can be arranged.
Do we need to book catering, or can we hire the room only?
Our funeral tea packages include catering as part of the booking, and we do not currently offer room hire on its own. We have created a range of menus and flexible packages designed to provide a welcoming and stress-free experience for you and your guests.
What catering options do you offer?
We offer a range of catering options, including our Classic Buffet, Yorkshire Buffet, Afternoon Tea, Breakfast Menu and Cold Fork Buffet. We are also happy to discuss bespoke arrangements where possible to suit your needs.
Can dietary requirements be catered for?
Yes. Please let us know about any dietary requirements or allergies when booking and we will do our best to accommodate them.
Do your packages include tea and coffee?
Yes — all funeral tea packages include unlimited tea, coffee and iced water for guests.
Do you serve alcohol?
We do not currently hold an alcohol licence, so we are unable to sell alcoholic drinks.
Can we bring our own alcohol?
Yes — we understand some families may wish to raise a glass in memory of a loved one. You are welcome to bring a small amount of alcohol for guests to enjoy responsibly. We kindly ask this is limited to approximately one drink per person and discussed with us in advance.
How much notice do you need?
We understand arrangements are often made at short notice. Please contact us as soon as possible and we will always do our best to accommodate your preferred date and time.
Can we visit before booking?
Absolutely. We welcome visits to view the space, discuss options and talk through arrangements with our team.
How do I book or enquire?
You can contact us directly by phone, email or via our enquiry form and we will be happy to talk through your requirements. We also work closely with many local funeral directors, so if you would prefer, arrangements can often be made through them on your behalf.
